Slovenian National Volleyball Team Concludes Nations League Campaign in China
The Slovenian national volleyball team concluded its initial phase of the 2023 Nations League competition in China, achieving a mixed performance across the tournament. The team secured victories against China, Poland, and Cuba, demonstrating strong competitive spirit. However, a defeat against Japan marked the end of their Asian East campaign.
“We had three very difficult matches, with five sets played in each,” stated team captain Rok Možič. “Through fighting spirit and teamwork, we were able to overcome these challenges. Unfortunately, we concluded with a loss against Japan, a team that has presented a persistent obstacle for us.” Možič highlighted the positive development of younger players adapting to the national team system.
Following their time in China, the Slovenian squad returned to Ljubljana, Slovenia, to continue the Nations League schedule. Player Fabi Solija expressed gratitude, stating, “It’s a great thing that we returned home after a successful tournament. It’s a great honor to be able to play for the Slovenian team in front of our home fans.” The team’s overall team spirit remains high as they prepare for upcoming matches.
