Man Rescued from Soča River Near Boka Waterfall
A swift response by a local citizen averted a potential tragedy on the Soča River on Saturday afternoon. A 62-year-old Hungarian national was rescued after falling into the river near the Boka waterfall, approximately 100 meters downstream from the bridge. According to Dean Božnik, a representative of the Nova Gorica Police District, the man was fishing in the area when he slipped and was swept away by the current.
The water rapidly filled his fishing boots, leading to submersion. A resident, employed by a Bovec-based company specializing in Soča River activities, immediately noticed the man in distress and initiated a rescue. Tolmin rescuers responded to the scene and successfully removed the individual from the water.
Preliminary assessments indicated the victim sustained no injuries. Authorities have ruled out any foreign involvement in the incident. The rescue took place near the popular boka waterfall, a known location for recreational activities on the Soča River.
The man is currently receiving medical attention.
