Update: Incident Involving Electric Skateboard and Vehicle on Drevored 1
A collision occurred on May 1st at approximately 9:25 pm involving a 53-year-old driver and two children riding an electric skateboard on Prekomorskih brigad street. Police responded to the scene on Drevored 1, where the incident took place at a pedestrian crossing. Preliminary investigations revealed that the children, aged 13 and 7, were operating the electric skateboard without proper safety measures.
The police determined that they were traveling without braking and drove onto the pedestrian crossing. Furthermore, the children were using a surface not permitted for electric skateboard operation and were carrying two individuals on the board, exceeding the recommended capacity. The driver, a resident of the Izola area, was proceeding in the direction of Dante Street when the collision occurred.
Contributing factors included the absence of functioning brakes on the electric skateboard and the lack of illuminated lights. Crucially, neither child was wearing a helmet. The incident is currently under investigation, with authorities emphasizing the importance of adhering to local regulations and prioritizing safety when operating electric vehicles, particularly when a child is involved.
