Patetico and Armadilo Release New Albums After Decade-Long Hiatus
Following a ten-year period, rock bands Patetico and Armadilo have released their respective new albums. Patetico unveiled their third studio album, while Armadilo presented Armadilo, marking a return after a decade. The title Armadilo, derived from the phrase “ne se spet zapret kot armadilo v svoj oklep,” emerged organically.
According to the band, the title reflects a recurring theme of cyclical negativity and a sense of stagnation. The phrase itself translates roughly to “one no longer threatens as an armadillo in its armor.”
Armadilo’s creative direction draws parallels with the resilience often associated with jazz musicians. The band members recognized repeating negative patterns in their lives, hindering personal growth, and described the feeling as being trapped in a circular process.
Nika, a key member of Armadilo, explained that the title stemmed from a rhyme reflecting this experience. In 2018, she had recently become pregnant and took a period of maternity leave. This time coincided with a repetition of these detrimental patterns.
The creation of the Armadilo album took several years, demonstrating the band’s commitment to a fresh artistic direction after a long absence. [FOT: Dejan Bulut]
