It appears these men were actively trying to remove the contributions made by the faithful. The priest immediately intervened, confronting the individuals and strongly warning them that he would contact the police.
One of the men reacted with anger, pushing the priest aside. Subsequently, both suspects swiftly exited the church through the doorway and fled the scene. Police in Novo mesto were alerted to the attempted theft around 1:30 pm and have initiated an investigation.
Authorities are currently examining the situation to determine if the men involved remain at large. They have stated that they have not received reports of comparable thefts within their jurisdiction. The priest, thankfully unharmed during the incident, is appealing to the community to exercise caution, particularly on social media platforms.
