A significant firefighting operation is underway in Ptuj following a large fire that broke out on Sunday at approximately 12:15 PM. The incident occurred at a multi-family house on Ormoška Street. Initial investigations by police indicate the fire originated in the attic of the building and rapidly escalated, causing extensive damage.
Several apartments within the building were completely destroyed by the blaze. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Two individuals who were present at the time of the fire successfully evacuated the building safely.
The PGD Ptuj, supported by firefighting associations from the surrounding municipality, responded to the emergency. Commander Tadej Korošak stated that the fire was initially contained for approximately two hours and brought under control. Firefighters then systematically extinguished individual fires within the structure.
As a result of the ongoing operation, Ormoška Street remains closed to traffic. Authorities are continuing to manage the scene and assess the full extent of the damage. Further updates will be provided as they become available.
