‘No new taxes’ and ‘citizenship duty for young people’

Tadej Osterc, a dentist, highlights a significant concern: 560,000 Slovenians lack a preferred dental professional. He poses the critical question regarding the government’s strategy to encourage more people to visit the dentist. Osterc identifies a key issue within Slovenia’s healthcare system, stating it’s the most pronounced in the field of dentistry.

Despite sufficient funding and a considerable workforce, this staffing isn’t adequately distributed within the public healthcare system. He argues that maintaining the current range of healthcare entitlements necessitates providing every citizen of Slovenia with access to a dentist. This requires collaboration between the ZZZS and the ministry to streamline the process, which he believes can be achieved rapidly.

Regarding the persistent shortage of nurses, Osterc acknowledges the problem. Currently, 400 beds remain vacant at the Ljubljana University Hospital due to a lack of nursing staff. The focus remains on ensuring that every Slovene has access to a dentist and addressing the ongoing need for qualified nurses within the healthcare system.
