Cyclists to Compete in 156-Kilometer Race in Slovenia

Approximately 1,200 cyclists are scheduled to participate in a race beginning Sunday, following a 156-kilometer route. The event will utilize a chronometer measuring cyclists on a 21.2-kilometer section as part of the overall course. The race, returning to the Franja route after a year’s absence, will see over 230 competitors divided across ten age categories.

The competition will take place between Ljubljana and Domžale, utilizing roads including the Šmartinska road in Ljubljana, the regional road connecting Sneberje and Domžale, and Ljubljanska road in Domžale. To ensure the safety of participants and officials, road closures will be in effect between 15 and 21 hours on Friday and Saturday. All road connections leading to the route will also be temporarily closed.

The timed race offers participants the chance to qualify for the Gran Fondo amateur world championship series. Furthermore, national amateur titles will be awarded. Organizers emphasize the importance of adhering to the race schedule for qualification purposes.

The event highlights a key route within the region.
