The trial is related to the accusations that the accused, a former international security guard who worked for prominent clients at film festivals and on trips to the USA and the Gulf states, has been abusing his partner for several years, raping her and documenting the abuse on video. The investigation, as The Guardian reported, began when their communication in the online chat room named “Against her knowledge” was discovered in 2020 as part of the investigations against Pelicot. Dominique Pelicot, one of the worst sex offenders in modern French history, is serving a 20-year prison sentence for almost a decade of abusing his then-wife and inviting dozens of men to his home to rape her.
In 2024, he was convicted along with 50 others in the largest rape trial in the history of France.
