Inter Milan Signs Midfielder Aleksandar Stanković for €23 Million
Inter Milan has secured the services of 20-year-old midfielder Aleksandar Stanković, activating a buyout clause in his contract. The move sees the player return to his boyhood club after previously playing for K.V.C. Brugge.
Stanković’s background is notable, with his mother being Slovenian and his father Serbian, resulting in his birth in Italy. This complex heritage presented him with the potential to represent Slovenia, Serbia, or Italy internationally. However, the player has already committed to Serbia, appearing eight times for the national team.
He is the son of legendary former footballer Dejan Stanković and the nephew of the former Slovenian national team player Milenko Aćimović. Inter included a re-purchase clause in Stanković’s initial contract when he transferred from Brugge, and the club has now exercised this option. The deal is valued at €23 million, according to reports from Italy.
Stanković’s return strengthens Inter’s midfield options as they look ahead to the upcoming season.
