Olimpija Hockey Announces Player Departures Ahead of Upcoming Season

Ljubljana – The HK Olimpija hockey club has finalized its roster for the upcoming season, announcing the departures of several key players. Robert Sabolič, the previous captain, alongside goalkeeper Luka Kolin, Rok Kapel, Lovro Kumanović, Alex Petan, Evan Polei, and Andrew MacWilliam, will not be continuing with the team. Goalkeeper Dustin Tokarski is also departing.

The club anticipates bolstering its squad with two or three foreign reinforcements. Among the most anticipated additions are Žiga Jeglič and Jan Urbas. Clayton Kirichenko will remain with Olimpija.

Kirichenko and Urbas are returning to Slovenia after extensive playing careers abroad. They spent the last six seasons together in Bremerhaven, Germany, previously playing for the Ebel league’s predecessor, the ICE league. Urbas’s prior tenure with Olimpija was followed by periods in Austria and then ten seasons in Germany, primarily with Fischto.

The announcements reflect a shift within the club’s roster as it prepares for the new season in Ljubljana. Further details regarding the new signings are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
