Instead of a parking lot for a house, the highest skyscraper is located on the bypass

New Skyscrapers Planned for Šiška District in Ljubljana

The City Council of Ljubljana has approved a supplementary draft ordinance impacting the municipal detailed spatial plan, paving the way for at least two new skyscrapers in the densely populated Šiška district. The decision authorizes the construction of a 60-meter office-residential skyscraper, comprising 16 floors and 80 apartments, at the intersection of Celovška and Gospodinjska streets. The project is being developed by Smart Property Fund, a Bulgarian real estate company with operations spanning Germany, Bulgaria, Portugal, the Czech Republic, and Slovenia.

Smart Property Fund, as detailed on their website, drew inspiration for the Ljubljana skyscraper from the early 20th-century Futurism movement and the architectural style of New York City. The company intends to incorporate commercial spaces alongside the residential units. This development represents a significant addition to the Šiška area, which is already characterized by high population density and traffic congestion.

The project’s approval underscores the city’s continued focus on urban development and investment in new buildings. Further details regarding the project timeline and specific design elements are expected to be released in the coming months.
