Increased Border Checks Reported at Montenegro-Serbia Crossings
Montenegrin authorities are reporting heightened border control measures at crossings between Montenegro and Serbia. According to a report by Vijesti, a Montenegrin news portal citing police sources, no Montenegrin citizens crossed the border at the Gostun, Jabuka, and Dračenovac border crossings until 7:30 p.m. local time.
Serbian police initiated increased control procedures, reportedly restricting the entry of Montenegrin citizens into the country as a temporary measure. The Montenegrin police subsequently confirmed to Vijesti that Serbian border police were conducting detailed checks on Montenegrin individuals attempting to cross. Furthermore, Vijesti reports that approximately 30 Montenegrin citizens were detained at Belgrade Airport following the arrival of a flight from Podgorica.
Passengers, primarily men holding Montenegrin passports, had their passports confiscated and were denied entry. The situation is being monitored by Montenegrin police, who are coordinating with Serbian authorities. The increased scrutiny at the border highlights a developing situation involving Montenegrin and Serbian police operations.
