The Serbian local elections concluded at 8 pm across ten municipalities. Voters participated in regular elections for the city assemblies of Bor, Smederevska Palanka, Bajina Bašta, Kula, Lučani, Aranđelovac, Kladovo, Knjaževac, and Majdanpek, alongside the city assembly of Sevojno. Polling stations opened at 7 am, allowing for a full day of voting.
However, the election process was marred by concerning incidents. Reports emerged of violence in several locations. Specifically, a beating occurred outside the SNS headquarters in Bor, involving a sustained attack and a journalist from Nova, a Serbian television channel.
Furthermore, physical assaults were reported in Bajina Bašta, where opposition observers had their tires punctured on a vehicle. Adding to the disruption, a group of men in black clothing targeted a citizen in Bajina Bašta, attempting to steal his mobile phone before attacking the journalist. Witnesses observed a black car involved in the assault, with the driver seen striking the journalist.
These events underscore the challenges faced during the Serbian elections and highlight the need for continued security measures.
