A week after the elections, which brought more questions than answers

President Nataša Pirc Musar will meet with each party leader for a half-hour session. Robert Golob, the relative winner of the recent elections and current Prime Minister, will be the first to arrive at the palace. Following this initial meeting, discussions will proceed with the remaining six party presidents who have secured seats in parliament.

It is anticipated that Pirc Musar will emphasize the critical need for a fully operational government, particularly given the current tense geopolitical climate. She is also scheduled to announce the specific date for the parliament’s founding session. This date is mandated by law, requiring it to occur within twenty days of the elections.

Sources indicate that the founding session is tentatively set for April 10th. During this session, the deputies will vote to elect either the President or the President of the National Assembly, necessitating the acquisition of at least 46 votes. Prime Minister Golob intends to actively pursue this goal, inviting support for Wednesday.

The situation underscores the importance of securing sufficient backing for a functional government following the elections.
