Police Investigate Large-Scale International Drug Shipments
A sustained investigation, initiated at the end of December, has led to the seizure of significant quantities of prescription medication by Slovenian and Serbian police. The initial alert came from a postal company reporting suspicious shipments originating from Slovenia and destined for international locations. During the investigation, police seized over 180,000 tablets containing alprazolam, clonazepam, zolpidem, and diazepam.
Subsequent shipments, investigated by the Kranj police in March, resulted in the recovery of an additional 150,000 clonazepam tablets. Authorities believe this operation represents an organized and long-term international criminal activity. The value of the seized tablets is estimated to be considerable, with individual boxes of zolpidem potentially reaching up to 20 euros on the black market.
The Novi Sad police apprehended a suspect, who was subsequently brought before a judicial officer. The investigating judge ordered the suspect’s detention. The police continue to investigate the network involved in these illicit shipments of tablets.
