During the hike to Machu Picchu, he fell 300 meters into a cliff and died

Rescuers found his body about 300 meters below a steep slope in a part of the path called “50 Gradas” near the city of Cusco. The policeman had been looking for him the day before – he had reported missing when he did not return after hiking with a tourist group and a guide. Police chief in Cusco, Virgilio Velasquez, explained that the man most likely lost his balance while crossing a bridge and tried to grab a wooden railing that broke.

“He fell into the ravine along with the railing,” he said to Peruvian media.
