The dental clinic will no longer perform orthodontics, says a message to patients at the Litija Dental Clinic, and instructions for self-help are attached, for example, that the dental wire can be moved with a tweezers or cut with a nail scissor. “In our concern for patients and responsible behavior towards our patients, we wanted to prepare some basic questions about the discomfort that may occur in children undergoing active orthodontic treatment. We have been guided by some professional recommendations that we have found publicly available,” explains Mario Bjelčević, director of the Litija Dental Clinic.
The Dental Chamber’s Committee on Dentistry has jumped to its feet because self-help is not permissible and unacceptable instead of professional care. These interventions can cause additional damage or even ingestion of the wire.
