The national rally championship will move to Velenje this weekend

More than 70 crews, half of them Slovene and 14 in the highest rally2 class, are coming to the start of this year’s Velenje rally, which has the longest tradition in Slovenia. The first time it was raced here was in 1984, and the current champion, Rok Turk, has won the most victories of any of the 40 editions of this race so far. Turk won the opening Vipava Valley rally this year, but Mark Škulj, who was breathing in close to his rear bumper, was able to breathe more easily and made it through the season.

Grega Kravos and Jan Medved, who followed him in the last rally, will miss the Velenje test, which will be a bigger opportunity for Mark Gross, who had technical problems in Vipava. Portorožans have been the only ones in the past 10 years to have beaten Turk in the national championship.
