Kurdish activists Ramina Zaleta and Karim Maroufpour were executed in the central Naqadeh prison, according to Euronews, after Iranian justice convicted them of “armed rebellion,” “attempted assassination,” and “formation of a group to obstruct national security.” According to Mizan press agency, they were members of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (KDP), which the authorities consider a terrorist organization. The court stated that the verdicts were based on confessions given in detention, and that they were legally represented, with the Supreme Court upholding the sentences. The organization HENGAW strongly opposes these allegations and points out serious irregularities in the proceedings.
According to its information, Zal was sentenced after a short, only a few minutes long, interrogation without the presence of the selected lawyer.
