The Ombudsman introduced a procedure due to early voting

Generalissimo Damjan Žibert will investigate potential disparities in treatment experienced by voters during the recent elections. He will assess whether certain individuals faced less favorable circumstances based on their location. This examination is rooted in the law governing National Assembly elections.

Specifically, Article 69, paragraph one, mandates that early voting should occur at designated polling stations within the district electoral commission’s jurisdiction. Fourteen district electoral commissions within the Ljubljana Administrative Unit opted to establish a single, combined early voting location – situated in the capital city. Consequently, some voters from these districts engaged in early voting outside their designated electoral area.

This created an imbalance, placing them in a less advantageous position compared to voters participating in the elections within their respective districts. The process of early voting itself was affected. The investigation will focus on ensuring fairness and adherence to the legal framework surrounding elections.

The goal is to confirm that all voters were treated equally, regardless of their geographical location, during the early voting phase.
