Doubts about the 34-year-old striker’s physical fitness have arisen in the past, so Ancelotti did not choose him for the last two international matches in March. “Neymar can go to the World Cup – if he is 100% healthy,” the Italian said at the time. Neymar played his last 128 appearances for the record-breaking world champions two and a half years ago: in October 2023, the star, prone to injuries, tore cruciate ligaments in his knee during a defeat (0:2) against Uruguay in the qualifiers for the World Cup.
Since then, Neymar has never returned to play.
